About 8 in 10 people have one or more bouts of low back pain.

In most cases, it is not due to a serious disease or serious back problem, and the exact cause of the pain is not clear. This is called nonspecific lower back pain. The usual advice is to keep active, and do normal activities as much as possible.  In most cases, the pain disappears within six weeks but may come back (recur) from time to time.

If you have or have had an injury, you know just how frustrating and painful they can be, and how they can cause pain, even after the injury itself has healed.

You can help to reduce the chance of injuries occurring and also rehabilitate existing injuries with Clinical Pilates mat work. Clinical Pilates is not only for the injured but for those who want to build body awareness, improve posture, flexibility, strength and stamina. Pilates can help get you back to feeling better quicker and also prevent further injuries, meaning that you’ll be back to your normal life quicker than you think. Clinical Pilates mat work is a level 1 class so designed for those who are pain free , it incorporates small props and is great for focusing on target areas of the body. Our classes are in small groups and cater both for beginners and mixed ability.

Chronic (persistent) pain develops in some cases and further treatment may then be needed. Clinical Pilates is taught by an STOTT ISP (injury-specialist populations) teacher or an APPI physio trained teacher.

This class is suitable for both post and ante – natal mums. This class is limited in numbers to ensure individual attention.

Please bring a Yoga mat and bottle of water to class, booking essential.
